'Filipina Girl' lyrics by Marcus Davis Jr.

'Filipina Girl' by Marcus Davis Jr. is currently the hottest song in the country (for obvious reasons), topping almost all of the charts in different radio stations. I first heard it three days ago through my favorite station, Magic 89.9, and was immediately taken with its catchy melody and cool lyrics. Scouring the net thereafter, I tried to look for its lyrics to no avail, until today.

Filipina Girl by Marcus Davis Jr.

She said she grew in a province (Malolos, Bulacan)...
I say let me up and create your (...)
Hop up in a sweep, we can take a shopping spree
Greenbelt, Rockwell is all cool with me.

'Coz you got to be the baddest girl I seen baby
I gotta make you my Filipina Queen lady
So come on, hop in baby
Let us begin
I will show you (show you)

That there ain't nothin' in this world
Nothin' in this world like a Filipina girl, Filipina girl (2x)

My Filipina mama...
Yeah

I'm a Filipino homie
Say yeah, if you feel me
Yeah if you feel me,

Listen up..

See I've been around the world (US to Japan)..
But they don't make 'em quite like you (so I gotta be your man)
So hop up in a sweep we can go for a ride
Let the top down, while we cruise and see the fires.

'Coz you got to be the, baddest girl I seen
I gotta make you my Filipina Queen
So come on, hop in baby
Let us begin
I will show you (show you)

That there ain't nothin' in this world
Nothin' in this world like a Filipina girl, Filipina girl (4x)

(If your from Pasig) You're so sexy
(Quezon) You're so sexy
(Alabang) Girl I love you
(Iloilo) Oooohhhhhh
(Cebu) Sexy little .....
(Taytay) Oooohhh

Then I got to get with you girl
Got to get with you girl

Pasig (eyyyyi)
Quezon (eeyyyy)
Alabang (eeeeyyyy)
Iloilo (All my ladies)
Cebu (You're so sexy)
Tatay (You're so sexy... ooooohhhhh)

Then I got to get with you girl
Got to get with you girl

That there ain't nothin' in this world
Nothin' in this world like a Filipina girl, Filipina girl (4x)

Pasig (Filipina)
Quezon (Filipina)
Alabang (Filipina)
Iloilo (Filipina)
Cebu (Filipina)
Taytay (Filipina)

Then I got to get with you girl
Got to get with you girl

If you're from Pasig (Filipina)
Quezon (Filipina)
Alabang (Filipina)
Iloilo (Filipina)
Cebu (Filipina)
Taytay (Filipina)

Then I got to get with you girl
Got to get with you baby

See all the ladies all over the world are beautiful to me
I just thought it was time I let the Filipina ladies know that..
Hey you're one of the best,
So stay sexy......

I also tried to find its music video but I haven't been as successful yet. This is the best that I found, not exactly a video but it will do for now. Enjoy.

Wimbledon 2008: another all-Williams final?

wimbledon, wimbledon 2008, wimbledon logo, wimbledon tennis, wimbledon grand slam, It is shaping up to be another sister act in the Wimbledon 2008 finals as Venus and Serena Williams hurdled their quarterfinals opponents. With one win to go in the semis, this will be the third all-Williams ladies finals for Wimbledon, with Serena winning their two previous encounters in 2002 and 2003.

I have been following this year's grass court Grand Slam tournament as always and I am naturally thrilled about the prospect of another Williams win. They're two of my favorites in women's tennis, together with Anna Ivanovic and my all-time choice as the greatest ever, Steffi Graf. Venus gets more of my vote though. I like the way she plays and admire her on-court demeanor. Ever since, I have favored cool and quiet (but deadly) tennis players, the likes of Borg, Sampras, Aggassi, Edberg, Graf, Venus, Davenport, and of course, Roger Federer. I hope it will be another Venus Williams championship this year, to add to her four other wins in 2000, 2001, 2005 and 2007 plus
runnerup finishes in 2002 and 2003. (BTW, the sisters also won the doubles twice before.)

On the men's side, the quarterfinals are due today with my idol Roger Federer still in the hunt for his sixth consecutive crown. I hope he makes it, though his previous plays this year have been quite erratic compared to the Federer express he has been known for. Waiting to snatch the championship from him is Nadal, one of my most non-favorites in men's tennis. I don't know but I just don't like him no matter how good he is (probably because he scratches his ass a lot, he he), similar to how I feel about Sharapova (probably because she grunts a lot). I know that Roger will eventually relinquish his no. 1 ranking but I hope it will be to someone else, preferably Djokovic. He he. Howver, I must admit that Rafael Nadal is looking as strong as ever this year, with many observers saying that it looks like this will be his year at Wimbledon. Hope not. Who knows, someone other than Federer and Nadal might end up winning, like a resurgent Safin perhaps? Let's wait and see.

Update: The stage is set for another Williams ladies singles final as Venus and Serena beat their semi-final opponents yesterday.

help, gas attack! (another church mishap)

gas attack, gas mask, The church was unusually full for the evening services last night, with people standing outside under a slight drizzle when I arrived. Still, my favorite spot wasn't taken. Just off to the right side was a small nook in between the church and the parish office - private, cozy and with plenty of fresh air flowing in between the two buildings. That is my usual spot when the church is full. With no clear view of the altar (especially for the vertically challenged), the place was all mine.

Just as I was about to doze off during the extraordinarily long and boring homily, an old man, probably in his 60s, walked out of the side door and proceeded to my spot. Must have been bored by the homily too, I thought, as I watched him walk around a few times. Then, just as I was about to shift my focus back to the mass, he let out a howler, farting like there's no tomorrow! The intensity must have startled him too for he walked away red-faced. I, on the other
hand, found the whole thing hilarious, and desperately tried to stifle a laugh that would have stunned the whole congregation! However, what followed was no laughing matter as the stench started to permeate my cozy nook. And boy, was it horrible! I held my breath as long as I could and, luckily, the cool breeze swept the odor away after a few seconds. Still, I covered my face with my hanky, not to protect it from the smell but to muffle the giggles I couldn't get rid of. He he he. I stood there, head bowed and shaking, with my mind filled with flashbacks of the startled look on the old man's face.

But wait, there's another one (there must have been a sale on beans yesterday). Some ten minutes later an older man arrived. He too walked around aimlessly, as if undecided on what to do. Oh no, I thought, not another one. Does lightning really strike twice? I waited for the distinctive sound before I covered my face but there was none. Whew, false alarm, I thought. But just as was returning my hanky to my right pocket I smelled it, sneaking up on me like a stealthy predator to its prey. It was a bomb, worse than the first and I couldn't stand it, walking away hastily to the another spot. WTF, I thought, has my cozy nook been designated as a farting zone without my knowledge? Was there a "fart here" sign posted that only older people see? Was I invisible to them? The first time was funny but I was definitely pissed with the second. Besides smelling worse, it was a sneaky fart, a silent killer. The old guy must have had a silencer up his ass! LOL

I tried to concentrate on the rest of the mass but couldn't. Flashbacks of the previous incidents filled my head, together with my other church mishaps (1, 2, 3) from the past. Why does this always happen to me, I asked myself. And why always in church? Are these subtle (??) messages from heaven above? Do beans really cause gas? Can this be harnessed to solve our energy problem? Ha ha ha. More silly questions filled my head. However, the experience taught me one lesson: Never to venture into that spot again for my cozy nook is no more. I have since referred to it as ground zero! He he he. Pacquiao vs Diaz fight result: speed & strength prevailed

pacquiao diaz results, pacquiao vs diaz result, who won pacquiao diaz fight, who won pacquiao fight, pacquiao vs diaz, pacquia diaz fight results,Mild chills went up my spine followed by goose bumps all over my arms and neck. It was the first time for me to see David Diaz next to Manny Pacquiao and the result kinda scared me. Diaz's body is much bigger than Manny's, wider, thicker, seemingly stronger. In fact, Pacquiao looked skinny next to him! What does this translate to, I asked myself. I hated to admit it but I was having second thoughts about my fearless prediction that Manny Pacquiao would win. (That was the pessimist in me talking again.)

It turned out that my fears were unfounded as Manny Pacquiao knocked out David Diaz in the ninth round of their scheduled 12-round bout. Round after round Pacquiao dominated,
displaying the speed many thought would be affected by his new weight. In fact, I even think that Manny's tour de force performance was his best yet. Right from the starting bell we could see that he had only one thing in mind, unleash the force of his punches and claim the WBC lightweight title of David Diaz.

My hats off again to my countryman, dispelling doubts whether he truly deserves the ranking as the no. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Before this fight many critics were questioning his claim to that title vacated by Floyd Mayweather when he surprisingly retired. Many claim that WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto was a more complete fighter than Pacquiao. However, after that display of speed, power and endurance never before seen in his fights against Morales, Barrera and Marquez, no further justification is needed.

David Diaz fought well and hard, he just couldn't keep up with the speed of Manny's punches. They were coming in from every direction and, at some point, all he could do was defend his fort. I also take my hat off to him for displaying the true heart of a champion. Many wouldn't have lasted that long. But he fought on, displaying the endurance that has been his trademark. In the end though, Pacquiao's superiority shone.

What's next? There have been suggestions in the media of a Pacquiao-Hatton fight a few days this bout with Diaz. And while it seemed that Hatton was too big and too strong for Manny Pacquiao then, it does no longer seem to be true now after what we have witnessed in this fight. It is my unsolicited suggestion, however, that Manny should take things slowly this time. He should settle down in his new weight class before thinking of another jump higher. But that's just me, the skeptic. If he and his camp feel that the Pacman is ready for a much bigger fight than this one, then our support will his as always.

Congratulations Manny, and thank you for once again spreading Pinoy pride all over the globe.

the Miss Universe 2008 is underway in Vietnam

miss universe 2008, miss universe 2008 crown, miss universe 2008 vietnam, miss universe 2008 puerto rico, For many beauty pageant-crazed Pinoys, July 14 will be a red-letter day of sorts for it will be the day of the Miss Universe 2008 pageant. Currently underway in Vietnam, the Miss Universe is considered as the most prestigious of all the international beauty pageants in existence, especially to Pinoys who have seen their country's bets win twice in the past together with a slew of runner up and semifinal finishes. This year's pageant will definitely be broadcast live like all the other Miss Universe finals in the past and it will again present minor scheduling headaches for many Pinoys. Some will choose to skip work or school while others will clear their calendar for the morning of July 14, canceling all appointments and errands to give way to uninterrupted pageant watching.

I don't know when this beauty pageant craze started with Pinoys. Maybe it was when a Filipina first won an international beauty title in the Miss International of 1964, followed closely by two more wins in the Miss Universe 0f 1969 and Miss International in 1970. Or did it start many years before when the first ever Miss Universe, Armi Kuusela of Finalnd, gave up her crown to marry a Filipino in 1952? I don't really know, but I clearly remember growing up in a household where beauty pageant broadcasts are much revered and anticipated. Any other programs, whether sports, drama or even the Oscars, will cause the usual bickering. However, when it's a beauty pageant, everybody is in agreement. He he he. Mom would always be in awe of the long gowns while dad's favorite is definitely the swimsuit parade.

A quick check of internet news reveals the usual supects for this year's crown - Puerto Rico, Venezuela, India, USA, Brazil and some other South American state. The winner usually comes from any of these countries, especially the ones from Latin America where beauty pageants are taken very, very seriously. It is interesting to note that the Puerto Rican representative this year caused quite a stir after winning her crown last year when she revealed that someone laced her gown and swimsuit with pepper spray on pageant night. Subsequent investigations later belied, then confirmed her claims. I have heard of catfights between contestants backstage before but sabotage by pepper spray takes competition to a whole new level. That just shows how serious these Latin Americans girls are.

I hope it will be another Asian wearing the crown after pageant night. Miss Philippines probably? One thing's for sure though. If internet voting will again decide this year's Miss Photogenic award, expect Miss Phillippines to be another strong contender.

hair today, gone tomorrow

bald, balding, balding head, bald head, homer head, homer simpson, homer simpson bald, baldness, baldness tips, hairless tips, baldness remedies, baldness cure, cure for baldness, My dad comes from a family of bald men, not the totally hairless type a la Lex Luthor but smooth around the pate. His dad was bald, his uncles were bald and his brothers are either bald or just a few strands from being classified as such. So what does the future hold for me? Argh.

I still have plenty of hair, but it has substantially thinned since my 20s, in what locals refer to as the “coming soon” phase. Before then, I thought I had escaped the family curse. I had a headful of thick, wavy, dark brown hair that I styled to the latest trends. I thought I had my mom’s genes! In fact, cousins who began to lose hair ahead of me were already extending their congratulations (and envious sneers). He he. But then, after I reached 25, the receding hairline and falling hair started albeit gradually. My heart sank. I’ll be another smoothie after all.

I tried all the remedies I could find, or afford. First on the list was aloe vera, a short-stemmed plant with thick leaves containing a mucous-like substance reportedly effective against
baldness. I tried it for a few weeks, applying that phlegm-like fluid (yuck!) on my head before I went to bed every night. But then I had to stop when I woke up in the middle of the night with a colony of ants seemingly having a banquet on my head! Nobody told me I had to rinse it off!

Next was another natural remedy, coconut oil. I applied it every night but rinsed it off before going to bed. The effects were a bit encouraging as baby hair could be seen growing on my head after a fortnight of use. However, I had to discontinue it for I could not stand the smell of coconut oil. What’s worse, the odor remained even after rinsing and it was embarrassing hearing sniffs from people around me in the elevator, restaurant and the office trying to find where that weird smell was coming from!

I also tried Rogaine, Regroe and Minoxidil with little success. Frustrating. A friend also suggested another alternative when I eventually reach the bald stage – transplants. Definitely not for me though. Besides being very expensive and painful, I don’t want my scalp to look like Barbie’s with hair sewn in neat rows. He he.

For now, I am all out of remedies but I am still hoping for any miraculous, modern technology product that will help. And, like millions of counterparts around the globe, I am taking this with a positive outlook. At least I’ll save on shampoo, conditioner, haircuts or even on a comb!

I was watching TV with my 12 year old nephew more than two weeks ago when this topic surprisingly came up (hence this post). Out of the blue he asked me, “Will I also be bald when I get older?” Hmm, this calls for some of my famous reassuring words, I thought. So I turned to him and, with my concerned tone, said, “Lolo (grandfather) is bald and so was your other grandfather on your mom’s side. I am balding and so is your dad. Chances are you’ll have a head as smooth as baby’s bottom before you’re 50!” He almost cried.

new Blogger features: inline comments, import/export, etc.

blogger logo, blogspot logo, blogger inline comments, blogger embedded commentsWordpress has many "advantages" over Blogger. For one, there are hundreds of plug-ins available for every conceivable tweak and trick you can think of. However, I still opted to stay with Blogger I have already taught myself (through trial and error) how to tweak some of its features and I am very happy with the results. Besides, Blogger hacks are sprouting on the web daily, catching up with WP's features gradually. Still, one of the most wanted features for Blogger are inline comments a la Wordpress, where the comment box is at the bottom of each post. While there are a few hacks available out there, every Blogger user was still waiting for the legit version from Blogger. Wait no more because it is finally here.

Blogger, through Blogger in Draft, has recently introduced a slew of beta releases for every loyal Blogger user, and one of these is the much-desired inline comment feature (also known as embedded comment form). Now, your blog readers won't have to go to another page (or a
pop-up window) to make comments. Though it looks a bit crude, expect it to improve when it passes its beta stage. For now, it will serve its purpose. If you want to know more about this and install it in your Blogger blog, you can find the instructions here.

This feature is a bit late for me though. I have been using Haloscan commenting system on this blog for some time now as I was too impatient to wait for this feature to be introduced. However, I am planning to remove Haloscan and go back to Blogger's new inline commenting system once it passes the beta stage.

Another new release is the import and export of blogs. Now,
you can back up all of your posts and comments to one Atom XML file on your computer, and import your posts from one blog to another. How cool is that? I have often wondered how to back up my blog (but was afraid to ask around) and with this new feature that will no longer be a problem. Moreover, the the following can also be done using this feature: merge two or more blogs into one, move individual posts from blog to blog or move your blog somewhere else. I haven't personally tried doing any of these but suffice it to say that will waste no time in trying them. I'll keep you posted. For more details on these new features, you can visit Blogger in Draft here.

I am certain Blogger will catch up with WPs features soon. For now, let's be patient and get further acquainted with its easy to use platform. Who knows, we may discover a hack of our own.

BTW, if you want ot keep up-to-date with the new features of Blogger in Draft, you can set it as your default dashboard here.
